First take the backup;
powermt save (default file will be powermt.custom in /etc)
OR
powermt save file=/etc/powermt_backup (Save the current
Powerpath Configuration)
Make sure none of the services using the storage.
Now check the existing version of PowerPath drivers. It will
give you the information like below;
pkginfo -l EMCpower
PKGINST: EMCpower
NAME: EMC PowerPath
CATEGORY: system
ARCH: sparc
VERSION: 5.3_b473
BASEDIR: /dir

As the above architecture is SPARC and PowerPath Current
Version is 5.3 now start upgrading or installation of 5.5 version
Download your desired drivers from EMC Support untar or
unzip
Install by executing command pkgadd EMCpower (it will remove/replace old to new version)
Output will be something like below

directories to PATH in /etc/.login and /etc/profile.

Installation:

successful. No reboot required.

Run Again pkginfo -l EMCpower and check for the new version.
No machine reboot is required for above steps.
You can also check powermt display dev=all to confirm all
the path are available.
